Life is busy. More time for what matters most.
Our story
Birch & Mangrove was built on one simple belief my dad always shared: "Wealth is relative."
I understood what he meant even then, but today those words carry a much deeper meaning. To us, wealth isn't measured by what you own. It's measured by the people around your table, the memories you create, and the time you spend doing what matters most.
The name reflects the two places that shaped me. Birch represents our northern roots and the birch trees that stand watch over our family homes. Mangrove represents the Florida Keys, our second home, where four generations of our family have gathered, explored, and made memories.
From the Great Lakes, Niagara River, Erie Canal, and Finger Lakes to the oceans and bays of the Florida Keys, we've always been drawn to life where the land meets the shore.
Two trees. Two homes. One family story.
I am a mom, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend, bestie and dog mom. I have a full-time career and a home that's still a work in progress. Also the room mom, the garden club chair, the trip planner, the gift finder, and the one with the extra wet wipe. People tell me I do too much. Maybe. But every one of those roles is a person I love, and that is the whole point.
What you will find here
Birch & Mangrove isn't about buying more stuff. It's about finding things that help us celebrate, gather, care for the people we love, and make everyday life a little easier.
The perfect hostess gift. A thoughtful teacher appreciation idea. A stocking stuffer that won't end up forgotten in a drawer. A birthday gift for the kid who seems to have everything. Travel essentials for inevitable kid or pet emergencies.
Meaningful gifts. Practical favorites. Cool finds with stories behind them.
Sometimes that story belongs to a small business owner chasing a dream. Sometimes it's a family tradition passed down through generations. Sometimes it's a beloved destination. Sometimes it's simply a product that becomes part of your own memories.
We believe there is room for both intention and convenience. A local shop we love and a trusted favorite a click away can sit side by side. So we do the searching, and you get the time back. Some finds cost $10. Some last for years. But all of them earn their place the same way.
Before we share anything, we ask ourselves one question:
Would I confidently recommend this to a friend or family member?
If the answer is yes, you'll find it here.
Keeping it real
We're not interior designers. Our house is a work in progress. We film on old countertops. Our fridge has duct tape on it. But the floors are new, and we put them in ourselves.
We're not chefs, but we absolutely love food and hosting, so we'll happily reshare recipes, restaurant recommendations, and family favorites while sparing everyone the cooking tutorial.
We believe in buying intentionally, and also in the occasional dopamine hit from a fun find or current trend. In buying less, but buying better. In being prepared for the unexpected while still leaving room for spontaneity.
Most days are school drop-offs, forgotten water bottles, a never ending calendar, deciding what to eat, and figuring it out as we go. You'll find room mom ideas, travel tips, backyard gatherings, family traditions, practical recommendations, and probably a few imperfect DIY projects along the way.
Birch & Mangrove is simply a place to share things we genuinely love, support good people, and document life as it unfolds.
We're not entirely sure what this will become, and honestly, that's part of the fun. But we know it will always be rooted in family, tradition, thoughtfulness, lifting people up, and making a little more room for what matters most.
Because real life is perfectly imperfect.
